There weren't any I didn't think I had never seen, but as for definitions---forget it, for a bunch!
how the heck is "euro" on that list??
i couldn't define many of those words, but most I'd understand (or even use) in context. It's a good list. Except for that euro thing.
I think that some of the words (like euro, and mitosis) were included to ensure a generally well-rounded education, rather than focusing on a literary vocabulary per se.
I would not be able to come up with the definitions but would understand and perhaps use many of these words in context also. Except for three that I swear I had never seen: tautology,bowdlerize and (shame on me)ziggurat. Never knew much about ancient Babylonian and Sumarian towers. But hey, I looked them up! Not that I'll remember! :)
I knew the gist of them all, but specific definitions less so. Strangely, "bowdlerize" came up when I was at Camp and no one knew the specific definition. I knew "moiety" only from doing crosswords.
I took anthropology, so I know all about ziggaruts and moieties. :) But not jejune....
