technology fail

30 Boxes is down and Dan and I have no idea where we're supposed to be. We converted away from the paper calendar about six months ago so we could both access our info when I was at work.

That's why I try to "own" all my own data. (Run my own mail server, etc.) I can barely do this, so a non-web-techie person probably can't at all.

I suspect that companies with "six nines" (99.9999%) uptime (such as Google) will eventually win once people start losing data they give over to less reliable companies.

I'd love it if I could use Google's (or whoever's) email, reader, etc. and have it mirror all the data on my own local server. I'd pay for that.

Frustratingly, I've only been able to log onto gmail sporadically over the past two days (though I can access other googley goodness like this identity).
